Duplicate Photo Finder

Drop in your photos — or a whole folder — to find exact duplicates, burst shots, and retakes. Keep the sharpest copy of every shot and download a cleaned album, ready to back up or share. Works on JPG, PNG and WebP — and on RAW files (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG and more), where the ratings come back as Lightroom XMP sidecars instead of a ZIP. Mix the two and you get both. 100% private — photos never leave your device.

Cleaned up an event album? Deliver it, too.

After deduping, upload the album to AccioPix. Our AI matches every guest with a WhatsApp selfie and automatically sends each person their own photos — the cleaned set, straight to the people in it.

How the duplicate photo finder works

Duplicate photos pile up fast — burst shots, retakes, multi-card imports after an event, and camera-roll copies that eat your Google Photos storage. This free duplicate photo cleaner finds them in your browser and keeps only the best copy of every shot before you back up or share.

1

Fingerprints every photo locally

Each photo is decoded in your browser and reduced to a compact color fingerprint plus a sharpness score. Nothing is uploaded — even huge albums are scanned on your own device.

2

Groups exact & near duplicates

Photos with matching fingerprints are grouped together. The sensitivity slider controls how strict the match is: from identical copies only to burst shots and retakes of the same scene.

3

Keeps the sharpest, you download the rest

The sharpest, best-exposed version of every group is kept by default — open Advanced settings to keep the largest file or the first by filename instead. Review the groups, override any choice, and download the cleaned album as a ZIP.

100% private. Everything runs locally in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded to a server, so you can dedupe a camera roll before backing it up to Google Photos, or clean a client album after a multi-card event shoot, without handing your files to anyone.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a duplicate — exact copies or just similar photos?

Both, and you decide where the line sits. At the “Exact duplicates” end of the sensitivity slider the tool only groups identical copies, such as the same file imported twice or a resized export. Slide toward “Similar shots” and it also groups near-duplicates like burst frames and repeated takes of the same scene.

Does it delete anything from my computer?

No. Your original files are never touched, moved, or deleted. The tool builds a cleaned copy of your album that you download as a ZIP, and you can also download the removed duplicates separately, so nothing is ever lost.

How does it pick which duplicate to keep?

Every photo in a group is scored for sharpness and exposure, and the highest-scoring version is kept by default. In Advanced settings you can switch the rule to keep the largest file or the first by filename instead. And if you prefer a specific version, click any photo in a group to change which copies are kept — you can even keep several from the same group.

Can it find duplicates in RAW files?

Yes. Drop in CR2, CR3, NEF, NRW, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF, SRW or X3F files and the tool compares the JPEG preview your camera embedded in each one, so you can cull before developing. Because those previews are not your files, your RAW files come back as the decision instead of the pixels: XMP sidecars named after your original RAW files, giving every keeper 5 stars and every duplicate 1 star when you open the folder in Lightroom or Bridge. If the same batch also holds JPG, PNG or WebP files, those still download as a cleaned ZIP — you get both downloads side by side.

Is the duplicate photo finder free and private?

Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up and no watermark, and 100% private: all fingerprinting and grouping happens locally in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded to a server.
