How this EXIF remover works

Every photo you share can carry your camera details, timestamps and even your exact GPS position. This free EXIF viewer shows you everything hidden inside a photo — then strips it without touching a single pixel.

1

Inspect the metadata

Drop in your photos and instantly see every EXIF field they carry — camera, lens, exposure settings, software and timestamps.

2

Spot privacy risks

Photos with an embedded GPS position get a clear location warning, with a map link showing exactly where the photo says it was taken.

3

Strip and download

One click removes the metadata — losslessly for JPG, PNG and WebP — and verifies the result. Download cleaned photos individually or as a ZIP.

100% private. Everything runs locally in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded to a server, so the location data you are trying to remove is never handed to anyone — including us.

Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data and what does my photo reveal?

EXIF data is hidden information your camera or phone saves inside every photo. It typically includes the camera make and model, lens, exposure settings, editing software, the exact date and time the photo was taken, and often the precise GPS coordinates of where you were standing. Anyone you send the file to can read all of it.

Does removing EXIF data reduce image quality?

No. For JPG, PNG and WebP files the tool removes whole metadata blocks at the byte level and never re-encodes the image, so the pixels are completely untouched and the colour profile is kept by default. The one exception is a photo stored with a rotation flag: stripping the flag alone would make it display sideways, so that photo is re-encoded at high quality with the rotation baked in.

How do I remove GPS location from iPhone or Android photos?

Drop the photos into the tool above. Any photo with an embedded GPS position gets a location warning and a map link, and one click on Clean removes it along with the rest of the metadata. iPhone photos saved as HEIC should be converted with our free HEIC to JPG converter first, then cleaned here.

Is this EXIF remover free, and are my photos uploaded?

It is completely free, with no sign-up and no watermark. Nothing is uploaded: viewing and cleaning both happen locally in your browser, so your photos and their location data never leave your device.
