Balanced suits most albums. Pick Strict to catch heavy-lidded, half-closed eyes, or Conservative if too many open eyes are getting flagged. Applies to the next batch you check.

How this closed-eye checker works

Somebody always blinks. This free blink detector checks every face in every shot, so you stop zooming into eyes one photo at a time — and it never guesses when it can't tell.

1

Finds every face

A face detector scans each photo — including the small faces in big group shots — and a landmark model reads 478 points per face, glasses and all.

2

Scores every pair of eyes

Each face gets a marker: green for open, red for blinking, amber for unsure, grey when a face is too small to judge honestly. Open Advanced settings to make the blink call stricter or more forgiving.

3

Stars the best retake

Shots of the same scene are grouped, and the frame with the fewest closed eyes is starred. Download your keepers as a ZIP — and any RAW files you dropped in come back as XMP sidecars that put the star ratings straight onto your originals in Lightroom.

100% private. The AI model downloads to your browser once and runs on your device. Your photos — and the faces in them — are never uploaded to a server, ours or anyone else's.

Frequently asked questions

How does the blink detector work?

A neural network finds every face in the photo, then a second model reads 478 facial landmarks per face and scores how closed each eye is. Faces score green (eyes open), red (blinking), or amber (unsure — for example motion blur). Everything runs inside your browser: the AI model downloads to your device once (about 15 MB) and your photos are never uploaded anywhere.

How accurate is it, and what are its limits?

It works well on frontal faces, including people wearing regular glasses. It is honest about its limits: faces that are too small, heavily blurred, in hard profile, or behind sunglasses are marked as unsure or too small to tell rather than guessed. You always see the per-face markers, so you can verify any call yourself before downloading.

Can it pick the best group photo from several retakes?

Yes. Retakes of the same scene are grouped automatically, and the frame with the fewest closed eyes (breaking ties by sharpness) is starred as the best frame. That answers the classic question of which group photo to keep when someone blinked in every other shot.

Is this blink checker free, and are my photos uploaded?

It is completely free, with no sign-up and no watermark. Nothing is uploaded: the face models run locally in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
